About Us

Rooted in years of musical training and driven by a deep respect for sound, we approach DJing as both an art and a technical craft. Every set is built with intention—from song selection and seamless transitions to sound quality and energy control—ensuring the music doesn’t just fill the room, but shapes the entire experience. With a background in audio engineering and a foundation across multiple musical disciplines, we understand how rhythm, dynamics, and tone influence a crowd at every moment.

Based in Chicago and serving the greater Chicagoland area, we pride ourselves on professionalism, reliability, and adaptability. Whether it’s an intimate gathering or a high-energy celebration, our goal is always the same: to create an atmosphere that feels effortless, immersive, and unforgettable.

DJ Z-Witty's Statement of Quality

"I believe that exceptional events are built by exceptional people. Every member of my team is carefully selected not only for their technical skill and experience, but for their professionalism, creativity, and commitment to delivering the highest standard of performance. I hold myself and my team to a culture of excellence—constantly refining our craft, paying attention to every detail, and never settling for anything less than the best for our clients and their events."

Zachary "DJ Z-Witty" Wittenborn

I’m a Chicago-based DJ and audio professional with a deep-rooted passion for music, sound design, and technology. I’m currently studying Audio Engineering at DePaul University while minoring in Electrical Physics, blending creative artistry with a technical understanding of how sound and systems truly work. This academic background directly informs my approach to DJing—clean signal flow, powerful sound, and an ear trained for detail.

My musical journey spans over a decade across multiple disciplines. I have 9 years of percussion, 8 years of piano, 12 years of vocal training, and 2 years of guitar experience, all of which shape my musical intuition, rhythm, and crowd awareness. On top of that, I bring over 5 years of professional DJ experience, performing at events where reliability, adaptability, and energy matter most.

Outside of music, I’m passionate about hands-on tech and creativity. I spend my time flying and building FPV drones, 3D printing, gaming, and experimenting with new tools—skills that reflect my curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and love for innovation.

I grew up in Naperville, IL. where my family still lives, including my two younger brothers, Josh and Ben and my dog, Poppy. I sang in choir alongside Josh, strengthening my musicianship and collaborative instincts, and I regularly work on tech projects with Ben—experiences that have helped shape my creative and technical identity. In 2024, I made the move to Chicago to fully immerse myself in the city’s music scene and better serve clients throughout Chicago and the Chicagoland area. Whether it’s a high-energy event or a carefully curated atmosphere, I bring technical precision, musical depth, and professionalism to every set.

How It All Started

The story began in early 2021 when Zach Wittenborn—also known as Z-Witty—visited Raja Balaji to help him build a PC. What started as a simple tech project quickly turned into something more when Zach noticed an old Numark DJ controller sitting unused, collecting dust. Curious, he asked Raja about it, and the two began talking about DJing—how it worked, what went into mixing, and the culture behind it. That conversation sparked a shared interest, and before long they committed to learning the craft together, teaching themselves the fundamentals and experimenting with sound. This collaboration led to the creation of ZRStudios, and by the summer of 2021 they were ready to put their skills to the test by throwing their first event, Summer Kickoff. The success of that night cemented the idea that this could be more than just a hobby—it could be a real creative venture.

How We Scaled Our Business

As ZRStudios grew, the project naturally expanded beyond just DJing. Zach later reconnected with Elliott Berck, whom he had met years earlier while marching together in high school band. As their friendship developed, Zach learned that Elliott was a lighting designer, and it became clear that his skills would elevate the production side of events. Elliott joined the team, bringing immersive lighting and visual design that helped define the ZRStudios experience. Over the next several years, the group hosted numerous parties and provided DJ and production services for a wide range of events. By the summer of 2024, after gaining extensive hands-on experience and a clearer long-term vision, Zach decided to branch out and evolve the project into Witty Entertainment Group—the company that continues today, built on the backbone of three great friends, collaboration, and a passion for delivering unforgettable experiences.
